27.02 Cumnor Minors v Banbury Youth (Rev Fix) (Loss 2-4)

Due to a pitch that is draining as fast as Cumnor play from the first whistle, the game had to be reversed! After a long journey we arrived at a suprisingly good Ironstones pitch.

What can we say but we started so slowly and hardly made a telling challenge over the first five minutes. Several coach and horses kept drifting around in front of our defence, who remained static and strangely stood a long way from the opposition. Banbury had time to feed and water the horses before passing to their players before scoring and the out of position Cumnor defense spotting they were there!

Several times this year we have started this way and we continue to be punished!

After the first 2 goals we started improving slowly scraping the sleepy dust from our eyes, but after the 3rd goal it appeared we woke up and started to steady the super tanker! Towards the end of the first half we started playing football. The second half was all Cumnor with some majestic tackling by Wills and Bomber Harry in midfield. Some of Bombers hard tackles got a bit near the mark due to timing, but we would not discourage the effort and attack he put into the game. Banbury had one attack and they scored on the break when it was 3-2.

Friendly playing 9 a side around 6-1 to Cumnor.

Adam tried to take on every player on the pitch after his knock on the head, we can only assume that the medicine that Lynne gave him was not actually Calpol but some of Marks steriods found at the bottom corner of her hand bag.

Cams man of the match sponsored by (Jekyll and Hyde) was Grant for his tireless defending!

I personally would have given it to Old man George who did not take part in our slow start!!!!!!!
What can I say!!!!!! Thats football and well done to Banbury who we expect will finish champions!
