13.03 Charlton v Cumnor Minors (Win 2-0)

After laying down the gauntlet to see which parent could get to the pitch 1st from the Vine, Richard picked Ian at the post in his souped up Volvo estate a relic from Touring car racing past!
"A great battling performance"

The sun shined the boys played well what more could anybody want on a Saturday morning? The coaches from Charlton were very welcoming and the pitch which we know slopes, was in very good condition. The tea was also very tasty.

Starting line up, Bomber, Flynn, Cam, Elvis, Old man and Chopper alias shooting boots with Adam in goal.

We played positionally well from the start which always is a good thing. You can then let the quality of your football dictate the result. Our 1st goal after 8 minutes was scored after some excellent interplay and passing between, Chopper, Flynn and finished by Bomber. We puts lots of pressure on their team and had a few good shots but Charlton always looked like they could break and score. HT 1-0

Wills for Flynn, and the pressure continued and we were rewarded with 2nd goal. Harry who broke their play down on the half way line took the ball through their defense and shot. Their goalkeeper parried and Cam finished off. FT 2-0

We brought on Charlie and then later Tom and kept our momentum going but near the end Charlton started to apply some pressure and we saw the last couple of minutes out after a couple of Charlton shots.

Overall very good closing down, very good passing, very good calling for the ball, very good defending, very good positional play and to top that Adam was not that bad either with some good saves and stops! An excellent team performance. Charlton have only conceded 10 goals in 15 games prior to this an excellent record from a good side who are a credit to their parents and managers. Also excellent goalkeeping there was a fine save from Bomber who threw a hard long one into the top corner which was saved following 2 handball incidents.

Friendly around 6-0 to Cumnor!

Cams man of the match sponsored by the "Ben Nevis Mountain Rescue Team" who operate first aid on the Charlton pitch was Bomber

All in all a good Saturday morning!
