02-02-14                 2nd rd Cup        CUMNOR MINORS  1  v   ROTHERFIELD VIPERS  0

After the past two weeks of disappointing postponements it was back to playing footy and another cup game against mid table B league team Rotherfield Vipers, the game being played at Westminster due to the Closes being waterlogged and with the absence of CAM this would be a difficult test!!!

Cumnor started with a 4-4-2 formation and had most of the possession in the first 10 minutes and came close to opening the score when TOM fired over, Rotherfield were gradually getting more and more into the game and were looking to catch Cumnor on the break....but the back four of JAMIE,GEORGE M,JOHN and MEMHET were looking very solid and not letting anything get past them,It was a midfield battle with both teams forwards having no luck up front and at halftime it was stalemate (0-0).
In the second half Cumnor switched their formation to 4-5-1 with the hope of winning the battle in midfield and catching Rotherfield out on the break, with MATT,GUY,COOKIE,GEORGE D and HARRY battling away in midfield the game was still very tight with ADAM restricted to saving the odd long range effort of which he handled very well, then on 55 minutes the break through and it was Cumnor who got it,GUY wriggled his way through the midfield played a nice ball to JAMIE who fed HARRY on the left hand side who then fired in a shot across the goalkeeper and in to the top corner of the net..........1-0, two minutes later Cumnor had a free-kick on the edge of the area of which HARRY took BUT the goalkeeper saved and no one could capitalise on the rebound so the ball was cleared and the chance had gone.
With DOM now dropping in to the back and WILSON and TOM coming back onto the pitch Cumnor were looking to hold on to their lead, the vipers came close with a couple of minutes left on the clock BUT Cumnor held on to clock up a great win and progress through to the quarter final of the cup for the second year running,                        WELL DONE BOYS.

A great win for the boys with the team spirit on a high the rest of the season looks very promising!!

Man of the Match:- HARRY a great all round performance finished off with terrific strike for the winning goal.

LETS KEEP DREAMING!!!!!!!
