15-02-2015                                 BOTLEY   0   v   CUMNOR MINORS   5

Cumnor were given the opportunity to go back to the top of the league if they could get a victory against  Botley, yet again playing on a non to friendly playing surface and having two players missing from the squad Cumnor couldn't take the win for granted.

Cumnor laid siege to the Botley goal from the start and had numerous shots at goal which either went wide or the goal keeper saved, Botley had the odd breakaway chance on goal but it was Cumnor who very much looked the side most likely to break the deadlock, it took 25 minutes for this to happen when RONAN and GEORGE played a nice one two before the ball was fed through to DOM to finish, HARRY then brought out yet another great save from the goalkeeper before RONAN curled in a great free kick to the top corner of the net,( his first goal for Cumnor )  to double the Cumnor lead, Cumnor still had more chances to add to their goal tally before halftime but had to be content with a two goal advantage at the break.
A couple of changes were made to the Cumnor line-up but they still started the second half much like the first BUT this time got the early break through when WILL coasted past a couple of players before smashing a shot into the corner of the net, Cumnor now 3 up were in cruise control and would have added more to their tally and if it wasn't for some inspired goalkeeping from the Botley keeper ,TOM did get Cumnors forth when turning in JAMIE shot and with a two minutes left GEORGE headed in HARRYS corner to give the scoreline a more realistic look. FT 0-5

All credit to Botley who battled hard considering they only had 10 players, but the boys put in a great display on a glue pot of a pitch and very much deserved their victory, which takes them back to the top of the league.

Man of the Match:- RONAN  For his great first goal for the team and a great all round performance

Special Mentions to HARRY for not only having a great game but keeping his cool throughout when being fouled (a lot) and making a difference not only to the team but to my blood pressure.(Mark)and for SCOTT for still turning up and supporting his fellow team mates.

IAN CELEBRATES AFTER HEARING OF CUMNORS GREAT VICTORY!
