19-04-2015                      CUMNOR MINORS  3  v  CHALGROVE CHALLENGERS  1

What can I say about the importance of this game if the Cumnor boys win they win the league if they don't then its down to the final game, no one wanted that so it was up to the boys to do the job against a Chalgrove side who were certainly not going to be any push overs.

Trying to get the boys to focus on the match and not get to nervous was not the easiest of jobs for the management team but try there very best they did and the boys were pumped up and ready when the kick off finally arrived.
Cumnor started quickly and were unlucky not to take an early lead when DOM turned his shot against the inside of the post after only 2 minutes, Cumnor were keeping the pressure on but it was Chalgrove who took the lead when a free kick from 30 yards out found its way over ADAM and into the net 0-1(15mins), Cumnor had corner after corner but the ball just didn't seem to run for them and the Chalgrove goalkeeper was having an inspired game but eventually Cumnor got their deserved equaliser when the ball fell for HARRY just inside the area and he volleyed home, the pressure stayed on and yet again the Chalgrove keeper made a great save from JAMIE'S powerful header but the half time whistle went and Cumnor had to settle for being all square. HT 1-1.

Cumnor had to keep the pressure on in the second half and they certainly did with attack after attack surely it was only a matter of time before Cumnor took the lead!!!!!with RONAN, GEORGE M, JAMIE and HARRY all dictating things in midfield but frustratingly time and time again they were foiled either by the goalkeeper or by the woodwork with DOM hitting it twice more, the tension on the side lines was getting pretty unbearable with time ticking down it was of great relief when COOKIE fired in from the edge of the area to give Cumnor a 2-1 lead, but with still 15 minutes left to play the game was far from over and Chalgrove were still looking to get the equaliser and break Cumnors hearts, DOM then smashed another chance against the underside of the bar and Cumnor had even more chances to ease the chance of one of the management team having an cardiac arrest on the touchline, eventually they did when DOM got the goal he very much deserved when heading home a cross from WILL, with only 3 minutes remaining Cumnor saw out time and as the final whistle blew the celebrations started and Cumnor had won the OMBL section C, FT 3-1.

WOW What can I say (or type ) what a game, to say the boys put themselves the management and their parents through it is an understatement, but in the end it was well worth it the boys have very  much deserved this victory working hard all season both in training and matches and giving 100% to every single match they have played in it was only right that justice was done in the end and the boys won the league, they can enjoy there day.
Man of the Match :- The whole squad

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE PLAYERS AND MANAGEMENT OF CUMNOR MINORS UNDER 15'S.

                                                       WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS.
