DAYLIGHT ROBBERY!!!!!!!
We must not let a DREADFUL referee take away the performance that Cumnor put on at a cold and icy Ducklington pitch. Ducklington managers were friendly with also Ex Ardington parents being very friendly!
What can we say but a marvellous team performance, our first game back after the long break!
We matched Ducklington from start to finish and there was little to seperate the two teams after normal time.
The starting line up of Adam, George D, George M, Cam, Grant, Harry and Wills started well with a couple of half chances in the 1st 10 minutes. Ducklington came back with a squandered half chance and all was level at half time.
In the second half changes were made, Matthew came on for Grant and played centre forward with both Harry and Wills supporting. It was hoped that Harry and Wills could have some long shots with Matthew making a general nuisance of himself up front could poach a goal. However, the excellent pressure from the Ducklington defence meant chances were hard to find. Further changes were made with Flynn for Wills and Charlie for George D. At the other end it was similar Ducklington found few opportuunities to break our strong defence, although Adam made some very solid saves in the tricky conditions.
Ducklington did have one shot that Adam parried and it came back to him off the post, shouts of goal were made from the Ducklington parents, from my angle it looked like it could have been either way, but from the referees position he simply could not have given it? However Adam looked like butter would not melt in his mouth and Im sure would have convinced any referee it was not a goal RADA would be proud!
At the end of normal time 0-0.
Tom came on then during playing the first part of extra time the SHOUTING point occured, a Ducklington player kicked the ball directly at Charlie who was two feet away. he was standing sideways on and it hit his arm!
PENALTY - One coach did not react as he could not believe what was happening the other was ready to remove the referees small intestine! The Ducklington coach said it was not a penalty but it ultimately decided the game!
After this we chased the game leaving gaping holes at the back and got caught twice.
'Cams Man of the match' could have been lots of us, but it was given to the mud man who played in goal for Cumnor!
Friendly about 3-2 to Cumnor, Thanks to all at Ducklington and the boys for the match we hope they get through in the semi v Bicester Town or Chasewell for the cup final. WELL DONE!
