Always a good close game with Blackbirds with a well liked Manager who even gave us a pat on our feathers as he left.
A much improved performance this week we flapped, we pecked we ruffled their feathers A BIT. A lot more than last week and after a good fighting performance we came out with a much needed confidence builder.
The 1st half we kept on eye on their excellent No10 with Cameron and Dom being tasked with keeping his wings clipped. They largely achieved this but his strutting was excellent.
We asked George Murphy to play at the back of a diamond in midfield and he ran and ran but I think in future we need to give him more support in this central position.
1st half we started having a few offsides but when we settled we had a few positive attacks that could have given us a goal but to no avail. Then out of the blue Dom belted a shot from a long way out into the top of the net for 1-0 this was then followed by a great shot that hit the post. It has to be said and Im sure Adam would congratulate the quality of the Blackbirds keeper a fine performance to our disappointment.
Second half came and after moving Grant from right midfield to right back to strengthen our defense he pulled a little bit of magic with a lovely flighted ball from the half way into the constantly chasing Lewis buried the goal for 2-0.
George Murphy was then injured after twisting his ankle and the roaring Elliott swooped in to save the day and perched into the same position and worked hard.
As time went on we got deeper and deeper until their No10 achieved some space and had a lovely shot 2-1. Then it was all claws to the pumps and we hung on even after Blackbirds hit the top of Adams perch. Phew 2-1 final score well take it !
Man of the match for his work rate in the centre at the back was Cam who between him and Dom kept the No10 in check
This weeks match sponsor was Harrisons budgie food the No1 budgie food recommended by the Budgie breaders association in Australia.
