                  26/04/15                   CUMNOR MINORS 4  V ABINGDON  0

After last weeks euphoria of winning the league, it was the final game of the season against local rivals and runners up Abingdon, could the Cumnor boys go all season without losing?without the influential Ronan in the team today it was going to be a difficult ask.

Cumnor came out of the blocks like Usian Bolt, and were putting the Abingdon defence under pressure right from the kick off, it was of little surprise when HARRY latched onto a stray pass to control the ball and smash it into the back of the net from just outside the box,1-0 to the mighty Minors,(HARRY'S 150th goal for the team) Abingdon were slowly getting back into the game and crashed a header on to the crossbar from a corner ( ADAM had it covered anyway), from MEHMETS quick thinking throw DOM got the ball forward for CAM to flick on and WILL to finish and make it 2-0 to the champions, Cumnor were chasing everything and the defence of ADAM,SCOTT,DOM,JOHN and MEHMET looking very solid, with TOM and HARRY linking up well down the left hand side and more pressure from Cumnor they got them their third goal when from a throw in the ball found its way to HARRY who fired in via deflection for 3-0, with still three minutes left of the half there was still time for Cumnor to add to their tally when HARRY'S 25 yard free kick found the back of the net for his hatrick and Cumnors fourth and a real demolition job of Abingdon........HT 4-0 to the super Blues, yes 4-0!!
In the second half Cumnor still had a job to do and with MATTHEW and COOKIE coming on in was really down to the midfield of JAMIE, GEORGE, WILL and HARRY to keep battling away and the defence to keep it tight and keep their concentration, with the game getting a little bit heated both on and off the pitch!!!!Cumnor did a great job in the second half and restricted Abingdon to just hitting the crossbar once and various long range efforts of which ADAM looked comfortable with. the final whistle went and Cumnor had achieved not only the double over Abingdon but had gone the whole season unbeaten, FAN...BLOODY...TASTIC.. FT 4-0.

What a great all round team performance, a real CHAMPIONS performance and a deserved win for the boys, the management are very proud of the achievements of this squad of players and very much look forward to working together with them all next season, A BIG WELL DONE AGAIN,BOYS.

Man of the Match:-SCOTT/DOM for a great defensive display (could be all the defence)

special mention:- to HARRY who probably had his best half of football all season (1st half) and scored 2 great goals (and one a bit flukey)to get a deserved hatrick.
