13-09-15                             CHARLBURY  10  v  CUMNOR MINORS  3

After Cumnors terrific start to the season they visited Charlbury a Witney A league team (last season),but with players missing with injuries and other carry knocks and sprains etc....this was going to be a difficult test for the boys.

Things certainly didn't get of to the best starts when a Charlbury player turned and shot into the net from the edge of the area in the only the second minute of the game, five minutes later it was 2-0 and Cumnor were up against it. The next 20 minutes the game swung both ways with both teams having chances but it was Cumnor who pulled a goal back when WILL got fouled in the area and HARRY despatched the resulting penalty, two minutes later DOM smashed a shot against the underside of the bar and Cumnor were well on top! that was until Charlbury got a third nodding in at the back post unmarked from a corner, and just before halftime Charlbury scored again when they cut in from the left to score and make the score 4-1 HT.
After a first half that didn't go exactly how Cumnor had planned the team had a bit of a shuffle around, MEHMET dropped into the goalkeeping duties after the unfortunate ADAM had to come off with a wrist injury, but things got off to a great start when DOM when through on goal and made it 4-2 after only two minutes gone, Cumnor were back in the game the next goal would be crucial but didn't come for another 15 minutes and it was Charlbury who got it when from a Cumnor corner they broke away a scored to make it 5-2, in the blink of an eye 5 became 6 then 7 then 8 and 9!!!!it seemed that every time Charlbury got the ball and shot in found its way into the Cumnor net......it was damaged limitation now for Cumnor with still 15 minutes to go the team got moved around but still Charlbury got their 10th with 5 minutes left but Cumnor did score the goal of the game when JAMIE smashed a 25 yard shot in to the top corner of the net. FT 10-3.

This was  extremely hard to take as even the Charlbury management admitted the final scoreline did not reflect the game and we had 50% of the possession in the game, but sometimes things happen in life that isn't fair and Cumnor must take this defeat on the chin and move on to the next game where they will be looking to bounce back in style.

MOM :- JAMIE a great goal and never gave up throughout

n.b seems crazy thing to write but all credit to the boys for not giving up even when things were going against us, they will bounce back.......Mark.
