27-09-15 CUMNOR MINORS 1 v SUMMERTOWN STARS 2
After last weeks impressive victory away to Charlton it was back to our home pitch!!!and hopefully carry on with winning ways, this was not going to be easy against a Summertown team ( last season B league and this season so far unbeaten).
The game got of to the best possible start for Cumnor when DOM turned on the edge of the area and smashed a shot into the top corner of the net for a 1-0 lead for the boys after only 2 minutes, Summertown came straight back at Cumnor and the Stars attackers found themselves with to much time and space in the Cumnor area and got their equaliser with only 7 minutes on the clock.
The rest of the first half was a battling display from both teams with both not holding back on tackles and competitiveness, with either team really creating a clear cut opening the half was just coming to a end when..............JAMIE decided to ( how can I put this ) to fall out with one of the Summertown defenders resulting in both players getting sent off from the pitch!!!HT 1-1.
With the game now being 10 a-side Cumnor moved players around and brought on a couple subs, it was still very much a midfield battle but it was Summertown who took the lead with 48 minutes on the clock, with plenty of time to get back into the game Cumnor went to three at the back hoping to create mores chances up field, half chances for CAM,TOM,DOM and HARRY came and went but unfortunately non were taken by the Cumnor boys, Summertown then hit a post late on and managed to hold on to their slender lead to run out winners by 2 goals to 1.FT.
All credit to the Cumnor boys who never gave up and didn't let their heads drop,but unfortunately didn't have there shooting boots on today, it was shame as they deserved to get something out of the game.........maybe next time!!!
