12-11-16 CUMNOR 4 v LETCOMBE 3
After the disappointment of last weeks result (last 5 minutes) the boys were looking to bounce back in there first home game for six weeks against a Letcombe team of which we didn't know a lot about and have never played before...........so it was game on!
The game started with both teams trying to play football and create opportunities but the pitch was winning that particular battle and it didn't take long to realise that trying to play that way was not really going to work so a more direct attitude was taken, Cumnor were threatening to break the deadlock and putting pressure on the Letcombe defence half chances came and went and when they did score it was ruled out for a push!!!!! eventually the deadlock was broken when from a throw in DOM fired in a cross for JOEL to head home (30 mins) the lead didn't last long when Cumnor failed to clear a corner and Letcombe had their equaliser, Cumnor then took the lead again when a nice through ball from CAM ended in DOM calmly slotting the ball pass the keeper for 2-1 BUT yet again Cumnor couldn't hold on to their lead when they conceded a goal direct from a corner...HT 2-2.
The Cumnor boys started the second half like a bullet out of a gun and after two great corners from HARRY TILL ( two of many) that were cleared of the line but no worries as a minute later DOM again crossed for JOEL to turn in for 3-2 and three minutes later they had a two goal advantage when DOM fired in from 12 yards out, Cumnor were now in control of the match and were looking to finish the game off BUT half chances again came and went and they didn't add to their tally, consequently Letcombe got a goal back and with 15 minutes still left it was game on again, the last 10 minutes turned into a bit of a panic mode for Cumnor clearing the ball at every opportunity and CAM,ELIOT,JAMIE especially doing a very fine job of it with the ever reliable ADAM standing firm in the goal..the final whistle eventually went and Cumnor had bounced back with victory by 4-3.
A very competitive game in which the ref did his best to ruin but both teams tried there best on a dodgy pitch but the Cumnor boys got there just reward with a lot of hard work,well done to them all.

special mentions to JOEL who ran his socks off and both DOM and HARRY THOM who both had there best game of the season so far...........but all the boys did really well
