22-01-2017 KIDLINGTON 3 v CUMNOR 5
Again with 3 Key players missing from the starting line up, the Cumnor boys turned up to Kidlington in hope rather than expectation....playing on a solid pitch!! the boys were determined to give their all and try their very best.......(that's all the management could ask of them!!!)
The starting line-up was a bit different to usual with OSMAN playing up with DOM and HARRY C pushed into midfield,.......the game started with both teams trying to push forward and open their account,Kidlington looked the most likely but a great save from ADAM and some brave defending by CAM,ELIOT, JAMES and HARRY Th kept the scores level, things weren't happening much up top for Cumnor so a quick change around nearly instantly paid off when DOM had a good effort saved by the Kiddy goalkeeper and then with 40 minutes on the clock a ball from HARRY Ti found GEORGE on the edge of the area who fired the ball home for 1-0 to the Cumnor, three minutes later and some great teamwork building up to the ball finding it's way to GEORGE who in one swift movement teed the ball up and volleyed in from 20 yards out!!( WHAT A GOAL!!!) 2-0 up and Cumnor were now in the mood DOM then went close and HARRY Ti fired just wide, but with the halftime whistle blowing the Cumnor boys came off well pleased with their battling performance so far HT 0-2.
The second half and the boys had to be on their toes as it was obvious the Kidlington boys were going to come out of the blocks quickly.......... three minutes in and they had a goal back when Cumnor failed to the clear ball and it was 2-1, BUT from the kick off HARRY C played a nice ball through to DOM and he did the rest by firing home, Cumnor were holding firm and were rewarded for their hard work when DOM strongly held off the defenders to cross for HARRY Ti to turn in for 4-1 (57 mins), Kidlington were trying to get back into the game but some sharp closing in and resolute defending were keeping them at bay......that was until the 70th minute when they snatched a goal back, but Cumnor were still looking dangerous on the break and when HARRY Ti flicked a ball through for DOM he then ran through and slotted home for 5-2,.... Kidlington then got another goal back with 10 minutes left, but CAM made some great last gasp tackles to stop Kiddy adding to their tally and Cumnor defended well to see out the rest of the game ..FT 3-5.
What a great team performance by all the boys a really great attitude by all to keep going and give 100% all match this was amazing achievement, was/am very proud of them all.
Man of the Match:- GEORGE two great goals and never give up attitude in the midfield
special mention to CAM,ELIOT in the heart of the defence but EVERYBODY played there part in what was a great win and performance.
