19.09 Cumnor Minors v Hook Norton (Win 4-2)

It was a game of two halves! On a hot and sunny Closes Park

An opening line up of Adam, George M, Charlie, Tom, Cam,Harry and Wills, with Mathew, Elvis, Flynn and George D

HT Mathew for Cam
HT Harry for Elvis
2nd Half early Flynn for Tom
2nd Half mid Harry for Wills
2nd Half late George D for Charlie

We Started well with lovely passing and movement and went close a few times. Harry hit the bar with a long shot and we narrowly missed the follow up. Cam then scored on 8 minutes. The game continued the same way with Harry crossing from the LEFT wing and Wills 1st time side foot volley into the goal at 15minutes. At 17 minutes Cam scored another with Will making it 4 at 18 minutes. At this time Hookey looked down and out, it was a question of how many would we win by, not whether we won. Harry again with immaculate crossing, Wills with a nice touch, Tom with Sublime passing and Cam with his pace and his head up looking where to pass!

Second half started and Hook pressed quickly from the break and we were caught short in defence the running that Cam gave in the 1st half had gone with his HT Sub, with the extra cover this afforded us. Hookey scored in the 21st and 23rd minutes and we were on the ropes!

After excellent passing play by Tom he was changed for Flynn, Flynn played as centre back between George M and Charlie and this shored up our rear end which was starting to waiver! From this time on we looked more settled. Shortly after this George D replaced Charlie and we probably had the better of the chances but we failed to score several times. Final whistle 4-2

George M Man of the match for his solid defensive hand particularly when we waivered!

We were much the better side and the scoreline was kind to Hookey but what a response after being 4-0 down and out at half time, to come back like they did and give us a 'bloody nose'! Thanks to the Hookey team who were gracious in defeat and a very nice bunch of people.....and I only saw one parent with 2 heads...or was it 2 bodies with one head!!!!!!!!!

Friendly around 13-1 to Cumnor with George D covering 3 to 4 Hookey players constantly at the back!

Thanks to Liam for being referee Hookey gave 100 we gave 99

During the game Liam was accused of being death as well as blind whilst the opposition were trying to make a substitution. The referee took offense to this accusation and threatened to put the Cumnor coaches in the stand........we feel this proves the coaches comments because as at no point have there ever been stands at the Closes....also are guide dogs allowed by the parish council one for the committee!

Thanks to Adrian, Andy and Lee for helping afterwards, Lynne and Ollie for the tea shop!
