17-01-16                     CUMNOR MINORS  8  v  CHARLTON & DISTRICT  2

After five weeks without a match and the notable absence of two players Cumnor rolled up to play against Charlton on a very muddy glue pot of a pitch, it was always going to be a hard slog and a test of endurance for all involved.

Cumnor started the game really quickly and were on the front foot from the off, five minutes in and Cumnor were in the lead when DOM crossed for JAMIE to fire home, two minutes later HARRY added another when again a cross from DOM was finished off, Cumnor were playing some good football considering the conditions of the playing surface and went into a three goal lead when HARRY lashed in a shot from just inside the area after just 15 mins, each time Cumnor went forward it looked like they would score and after some nice team build up play they made it four when JAMIE finished the nice move, DOM then smashed in the fifth after a nice ball over the top from GEORGE and then GEORGE himself got on the score sheet when guiding a header in to the corner of the net!!!!!!6-0 to Cumnor after only 35 minutes, at the other end of the pitch Charlton were having their own chances with a couple of headers just going wide and ADAM catching and holding onto everything that was fired towards him, with the defence of CAM,ELIOT,JOHN and MEHMET looking solid, and with COOKIE,GEORGE and WILL battling they way through the mud in the midfield Cumnor finished of a fantastic first half performance when scoring a seventh when DOM finished after a nice pass through from HARRY.......HT 7-0 !!!!
In the second half MEHMET replaced ADAM in goal ( who went up to Oxford Utd with his Dad....... to see them lose!!!!!! ) it was always going to be difficult to follow the first half performance so it was of no surprise when Charlton went close on several occasions hitting the woodwork three times during the half and Cumnor were also going close when hitting the woodwork twice ( DOM and WILL ) the Charlton keeper made some good saves to keep the scoreline down but eventually JAMIE had his hatrick and Cumnors 8th after 65 minutes when firing in from the edge of the area, Cumnor were now content to go through the motions to see out the time, Charlton finally got a deserved goal on 78 minutes to make it 8-1, and the ref then decided to play and play and play!!!until Charlton got another on 86 minutes!!!!!and then the final whistle went......FT 8-2 to the Brown (mud) and Blues.

A terrific team performance with all players playing their part in a long hard match, not just up against decent opposition but a very very difficult playing surface......well done to all ( PROUD OF YOU)

Men of the Match :- CAM and ELIOT both had great games at the back ( many players had great performances )
