18-09-16 CHALGROVE 1 v CUMNOR 2
After Cumnors great and exciting start to the season last weekend it was there first away game at Chalgrove this week and this could be a very tricky fixture for the boys!!
Playing on what seemed to be a postage stamp of a pitch Cumnor started the game really quickly and won three corners in quick succession but didn't manage to get the early break through, the game then settled down into a bit of a messy affair with neither team playing much football, with both keepers making fine saves in the first 20 minutes (one from HARRY's right boot!!) but clear cut openings were few and far between although Cumnor did have the ball in the back of the net after a nice move but was ruled offside!!, with only five minutes left of the half Cumnor got the breakthrough when SCOTT floated in a free-kick from the halfway line for DOM to control and cross for JOEL to finish from close range, unfortunately the lead didn't last long when Chalgrove got the equaliser two minutes later, there was still time for JOEL to hit the post and then for the unlucky SCOTT to be carried from the pitch with what looked like a nasty injury.HT 1-1.
Cumnor. the Cumnor boys then for the rest of the game battled bravely all over the pitch especially in the midfield JAMES,GEORGE,DOM,HARRY and ELIOT all doing there bit to keep Cumnors slim lead, and nearly went further ahead when JAMES,OSMAN and JOEL all went close, but the boys played a very mature and professional last 10 minutes of the game when seeing out time and continuing their 100% start to the season...FT 1-2.
Everyone played their part in this very tight encounter, keeping our discipline was a critical part of this victory and after losing a key player they did very well to get a great win.
Man of the match:- ELIOT a great a hard working display in the midfield topped by his winning goal
special mention to HARRY C and CAM who both had good solid games and for DOM for his winning performance in the midfield in the second half
n.b GET WELL SOON SCOTT
No wonder the keeper panicked !!!!!!
cheers Mark
